This blog has become more of a repository for photographs of paintings than anything else. Makes me feel better since I lost 90% of everything I’d done prior to 2009, and I mean 5-6 milkcrates full of writings, drawings, sketches, fiction, ramblings, and rants. All gone, except for the sampling of drawings I luckily scanned in 2 bursts at my brother’s house in Brooklyn in 1999-2000 area and which was the first batch of things I posted here, and the 150 or so poems and short stories I typed up between 1993-2000 and still have copies or digital files of. So, not really ALL gone, but mostly gone. But, picking up a paintbrush in 2010 made all the difference and made me feel I could regenerate anew all that was lost, and in a superior way than before. I find myself going in completely new directions as well as revisiting compositions I hadn’t dabbled in since 1992, as the 2 above show: one is from 1992 and the other from 2011. Didn’t realize the similarity till afterward, but I have a thing for 3 figures in a row and always will, so it’s not extraordinary that they are similar. Just reflecting on things at year’s end, though I never ever really care about holidays and external milestones. That is, the internal ones are the ones that drive me forward and lead to growth and an evolved state. Hopefully, of course.
Happy new year to anyone out there!
